Frequently asked questions
Why convert a JPG to PNG?
PNG is a lossless format, so it is a good choice when you want to edit an image repeatedly without adding compression artefacts, or when a tool or platform specifically requires PNG files.
Will converting to PNG improve the quality?
No conversion can add back detail a JPG has already discarded. Converting to PNG preserves exactly what is in the JPG without further loss, which is useful before further editing.
Can I convert many JPGs at the same time?
Yes. Add as many JPG or JPEG files as you like and convert them in a single batch, then download each PNG separately or all of them together as a ZIP.
Do PNG files support transparency?
Yes, PNG supports full transparency. A JPG has no transparent areas to begin with, so the resulting PNG will be fully opaque unless you edit it afterwards.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser with the Canvas API, so your photos stay on your device and the tool keeps working even without an internet connection.
